Silence

This picture represents the Silence theme, because the situation seems similar to Elie's.  Even though this picture is a band and may be set up, you can still see that there is a silence in the room and they feel as though they can't do anything to stop what's happening.  This may be the same feeling Elie and the other Jews had during the Holocaust, because they just kept silent and didn't do anything to stop what was happening.  To me, the theme has two different parts.  The first is when Elie wonders why God is silent and why he isn't doing anything to help them, and the second part is when Elie doesn't do anything to help his father when he is beaten.
